AYU care assistant Invention Design Team: Daisy Muntean, Viki Schmidt and Tara Monheim — The nursing care crisis has steadily worsened over the past few years. In Germany alone, more than 3.5 million people are in need for care, and the number is expected to rise to 5.3 million by 2050. Nursing institutions do not have enough personnel, and the working conditions of female and male nurses are continuously deteriorating. In the future, the situation will worsen due to demographic change if necessary improvements and investment in the sector are not taken. With this background in mind we invented Ayu to assist caretakers in their everyday work life.

4th Semester - 2021

Sexual Desire Interactive Communication Systems Team: Pauline Koch, Charlotta Lehnhäuser, Tara Monheim — The human body is driven by desire. Desire for food, desire for human contact, desire for love and much more. We explored sexual desire and its consequences and created an exhibit in content cooperation with the exhibition ‘GIER’ of “Haus der Geschichte” in Stuttgart.

HfG bikeshare Prototyping. — Team: Tara Monheim, Linn Klaas and Marc Rufeis — In this project we built a fully functional bike rental system for our university at HfG Gmünd. This full stack system allows students and faculty members at HfG to rent and lend their own bikes.

sustainable nutrition User Cenetred DesignTeam: Tara M, Ligi D., Marius S., Maximilian B. and Leo S. — Changing people’s eating habits and perspectives is a hard and long process, but it is also necessary if we want to continue living on this planet. As humans we are the responsible species for destroying the planet so we need to change specific behaviour. A change in eating habits will be a triple win: for our bodies, the animals that suffer and for the environment itself.

3rd semester - 2020|21

“Put energy in designing yourself & designing the team-dynamics - not just energy into designing the product.”

water crisis Simulation Team: Tara Monheim and Marius Schairer — Water is a finite resource. In 2010 it was recognized by the UN that access to clean water is a human right. A total of 2/3 of the earth is covered with water, 3.5 percent of which are freshwater reserves. Accessible for us humans are only 0.7 percent. The assignment: a visualization of the consumption of water in agriculture, households and industries of BRICS countries from the year 1996 to 2015.

Realisation/ MarketingTeam: Moritz Hartstang und Tara Monheim — The parlour game LEIPS overcomes the language barrier between people with either visual impairments, hearing impairments and those without disabilities. During the game you will learn how to read Braille, use sign language and spell with Roman letters. The game not only enables communication, but also creates awareness of the life of the other player and leads to inclusion.

since 2021

We are a non-profit association for sexual education. We educate by creating info materials, among other things. We want to inform about sexuality in a well-founded way, detached from taboos and heteronormative gender roles, and thus support the discussion of the topic within schools and extracurricular environments.

since 2020

We are a team consisting of different semesters and study courses at the HfG in Schwäbisch Gmünd. We are curious and have a pioneering spirit! As a team we have started the first online magazine at a design university where we work on regular posts, podcasts and contributions in the field of design.
